Artist's Comments

PhotoStudio, about ten hours.
September 2007.

Jasmine being one of my favourite characters, this drawing was long over due.

It is over due for another reason too: I started it as my entry to Piroro's contest.... The original title would have been: Jasmine preparing for the party.

I tried thicker sketchlines than usually on this one. I am happy the way it turned out. However, the ropes are too thin for my taste.

There are also a few things wrong with the reflected Jasmine compared to the original. Also, Jafar is only seen reflected, but this I did on purpose.

A total of four references for the body positions and the characters themselves.

As a contest prize *Piroro made for me another reflected Jasmine, which can be found here: [link]

Were you trying to make Jasmine look more... full-figured or did you do that by accident? I think you should have made them look more realistic and used thinner lines, but that's just my opinion. It's a good idea and I think you should work on it a little more. I love the fact that Jafar is only in the mirror and I agree that the ropes should be thicker, stronger-looking.

I prefer my women like this, I guess :D
But I realise that is not as Jasmine *should* look like. I hope you like her nevertheless !

I do like her. It's a very cute picture!!! I guess I've always thought it would be cool to draw them into real people, you know?

I think this piece is lacking in detail compared to some of your other pictures, and has a roughish sort of quality to it. The fact that Jasmine lacks much detail in the face quite surprises me--you usually pride yourself on your attention to detail in that particular region.

Jafar's robes as nicely drawn, as are the ropes, but I think you definitely have better pieces.

I agree with you. The faces are not very well done. I wanted to stay too close to the
cartoon Jasmine. The first version of the profile was even worse, which caused the
drawing to be in Purgatory for several weeks.

But hey, this is Jasmine, one of my fave characters, I had to finish her. ;(

I must say I do love Jasmine's character. She seems to have gotten herself into quite the situation there, too. Nice work.
